Visit My Cousin in Somerville, Alabama

Sunday, March 21, 2021

It was a 1.5 hour drive to Somerville, Alabama to visit my cousin. It was noon when we got there. Standing in the doorway, talking, their beagle got out. Although she is fairly old, she likes to travel. I think there is a dog down the street that she would like to visit. Gill couldn’t catch her, and was soon badly out of breath, so I told him to go sit down and I would get her.

Well, she ran through the thickets and woods toward the road. I had bad visions, feeling like I was chasing her into trouble. Finally, I saw a clearing and ran out into the road and cut her off. Thankfully, as I ran up to her, she crouched down. She was quite proud of herself as I led her back.

We had a nice visit and lunch, catching up on family and current affairs. It had been two years since I last came to visit, when I was driving the Trace for the first time. Next time we will stay longer, although it’s quite difficult getting the Airstream turned around in their driveway 😊

It’s not a bad drive back on Rt. 92, and we were glad to have had a good visit.

Thank you Willie. He was just fishing away on a chilly morning – very cool!
