Interesting. I didn’t know the Appalachian range ended up there.

It does sound like a spider bite. If it was a brown recluse, you may need antibiotics. I’ve had two friends bitten and you need to keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn’t ulcerate. I’m sure your tetanus is up to date.

Fogo was on my list for a while, but I saw a documentary on the hotel and my interest waned. Thanks to your post, I feel I’ve been there. You’ve seen a lot of pretty places in the last few years. Maybe it was the overcast weather, but I’d say this doesn’t crack your top 10.

Take care and hope you feel better.

Thank you Jane-Ashley. The cloudy skies and fog, which is so common in Newfoundland, does affect things. That is why they paint with such bright colors. It is amazing the difference when the sun comes out. The water becomes blue and clear, the grass and trees so green, and everything looks fresh and clean.

I have a friend who has a house in Newfoundland and spends summers there. Sounds beautiful. Be sure and get antibiotics if you had a tick bite!!! Especially if the red area looked like a target lesion. Don’t take any chances!

Hi Maureen, it is so nice to hear from you. You are right of course. I will see to it. I would have gone to the Gander hospital, but they are rated 2.9! I’ll try in St Johns Tuesday. I hope you guys are having a great summer.

Try taking your wallet out of your back pocket when you sleep at night. That will relieve the pressure on your sciatica nerve. If you were afraid that someone will take your wallet while you’re asleep, just spend a little of the money out of it to make it a little thinner. If you decide to leave your wallet out in the open while you sleep please do not invite anybody to have a drink with you – they might steal it ( private joke ).

Ha ha, that could be it, sitting on that wallet while driving. I do think it’s sciatica though. There is a good story from our trip across Canada trout fishing. A couple who lived close to the campground came to share a cocktail with us that turned into a long evening of drinking and telling stories. They kept going into the trailer to use the bathroom or fix another drink. I got a bit nervous about that and went in to find check things out. Not being able to find my wallet, I went off and they left. They were a very nice couple who gave us moose burgers and steaks. In the morning when I put my pants on, my wallet fell out of the pants leg.
